Pioli was a guest in the Sky Sport Italia studio for Sunday’s coverage of Juventus’s 2-0 victory over Napoli and shared his thoughts on the game after full-time.

“It was an exciting game in the first half, but Juventus went on to show the desire to win and it’s a game that will give the Bianconeri a bit more trust,” said the former Milan, Inter, Fiorentina and Lazio head coach (via TMW).

(Photo by Gabriele Maltinti/Getty Images)Juventus have recently been playing in a 3-5-2 with Randal Kolo Muani and Nick Woltemade up front with injuries to several key attacking players, but then decided to bring on more natural wide players in Jeremie Boga and Edon Zhegrova in the second half.

Asked whether it makes a big difference if Juventus play with wingers or with a two-man striker partnership, Pioli said: “I think so, but Juventus have a lot of wingers. The pairing of Woltemade and Kolo Muani makes sense, but Spalletti made good changes and interpreted the game well. The Bianconeri had a lot of shots from outside the box and they were rewarded for that tonight.”

You have to help him on a psychological level, being there for him and giving him confidence or putting him in different areas on the pitch: In short, basically what Spalletti is trying to do.”
